This is the website for the Vale of Leven Hospital Inquiry. The Inquiry was set
up by Scottish Ministers to investigate the occurrence of C. difficile infection
at the Vale of Leven Hospital from 1 January 2007 onwards. The Inquiry will also
investigate the deaths associated with C. difficile which occurred between 1 December
2007 and 1 June 2008.

Nicola Sturgeon MSP, then Cabinet Secretary for Health, Wellbeing and Cities Strategy,
announced the Inquiry in the Scottish Parliament in April 2009. The Inquiry, which
has been set up under the Inquiries Act 2005, began its work on 1 October 2009.
The Rt Hon Lord MacLean, pictured, is the Chairman of the Inquiry.
Current status
The Inquiry published its final report on 24 November 2014. The Cabinet Secretary for Health, Wellbeing and Sport provided an initial response to the Scottish Parliament on 25 November 25 2014 when all 75 recommendations were accepted (65 for NHS boards, nine for Scottish Government and one for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service), and gave evidence to the Health and Sport Committee on 24 February 2015.
