David MacBrayne Limited, which is wholly owned by Scottish Ministers, is the parent company of the David MacBrayne Group. The Group’s principal subsidiary is CalMac Ferries Limited, which operates the Clyde and Hebrides ferry services. In addition, the passenger-only Gourock/Dunoon ferry service is operated by another subsidiary, Argyll Ferries Limited. These services are provided under public service contracts with the Scottish Government, for which a grant is received.
The Company is committed to its part in providing and improving transport services to people in island and remote communities, supporting the aims of the Scottish Government, and to making a good commercial return for our shareholder, Scottish Ministers.
CalMac Ferries
CalMac Ferries Ltd currently provides passenger, vehicle and shipping services to the islands off the West Coast of Scotland and in the Clyde estuary.
Argyll Ferries
Argyll Ferries operate a frequent daily passenger service between Gourock and Dunoon town centres.
