It is not. you might see if you can change the description to make it easier to find by searching for things like "post editor" or "html tags" or "visual editor" etc...

It's not my plugin :) I just happen to have a library of plugins stored in my head and can pull them out when people need to find 'em. (This is not a joke, but a strange reality...)

Thanks for the reply. I installed the plugin and it looks like it does what I want. A teeny suggestion though... you might see if you can change the description to make it easier to find by searching for things like "post editor" or "html tags" or "visual editor" etc... Maybe I'm dense, but I did not know what to look for. Maybe I should have just used google, bug I have been searching for plugins through WordPress to do exactly this for ages and did not find this one. Maybe I should have vented my frustration here sooner. ;)
But I am still really, really happy to have it.

WP 3.9 includes TinyMCE 4.0 which is much better with this stuff, and most basic HTML should work fine.

I get that this is a big project, but since creating posts that don't look like [unprintable] is a source of unending frustration because the visual editor doesn't have enough *basic* functionality to control how my stuff looks, and I can't use *basic* html functions like tables, either, because it tosses my html if I try to write any. I end up with ridiculous kludges full of carriage returns arrived at through trial and error, in-line css that would make any developer howl, etc.
Seeing as Wordpress is fundamentally for blogging, and blog posts are fundamentally a bunch of text and pictures, I would think this would be a much higher priority.

Boy howdy are there a lot of plugins out there that use the TinyMCE API. I agree it's time to move on from TinyMCE but this wouldn't be a trivial under taking at all.

We are currently sticking with TinyMCE, which we rightly call a VISUAL editor, not WYSIWYG.

The redesigned editor is not going to be done in time for 3.8.
