   You can use IThemes Security plugin to enable blocking of IPs to prevent brute force attacks.

   This would help with security.

   I am not a fan of installing plugins for everyting, so it would be handy to have this feature included!

   For some sites, you'd break email with the amount of failed attempts. Especially when you consider how people target logins with the DDoS/brute force attacks. This will remain plugin territory because it's not all that effective for security.
