the_terms()

   Search terms should be easily accessible from PHP. The biggest advantage is putting the terms in the page title: currently, it's just the blog's name! That's useless!

   Not sure if I understand you correctly, but you might want to take a look at the K2 theme (http://getk2.com). In K2 you get the string of the search displayed in the page title of the search results!

   For anyone browsing: the function is attribute_escape(get_search_query()).

   A the_tags() wrapper func would still be desirable though...
