Replacing pics is not easy in the core and also with the here mentioned plugins it is not perfect. It would be very beneficial if files can be replaced in an easy way by the upload function.

Totally agree with your post. It should be part of the core to replace files. Also i wish there would be some bulk-options like, multi-deleting or multi-cropping.

We are an web agency and we work all the time with WordPress for our clients.

We do not understand how WordPress does not come (in 2016!) with a media organizer (by folder) and does not allow the replacement of a media without plugin.

These options are the minimum required for everybody using WordPress (pros, individuals,...).

We pray everyday for these basic options but it never comes.

Please work and implement these options (media library with folders and media replacement).

The current media library is a pain!

Hey I really like the idea of replacing files without needing to completely delete them and reupload again.

But I think folders are not needed.

These ideas are for "core". As I've just shown above, there is a perfectly good plugin that does this, so there is no need to bloat the code with extra.

I agree Aryenne, it would be very beneficial if files can be replaced by upload function.

Sometimes users upload pictures which are very big. I download the picture then, use a tool to make it smaller and re-upload it. At the moment I always have to delete the old picture before i can re-upload or I have to change picture and link name.

This could be a lot of easier if the upload function would replace the file with the same name.

Replacing a file would be great and should be a part of the core. For a better management of your media files I can recommend you an amazing plugin: https://de.wordpress.org/plugins/enhanced-media-library/

Hope this helps Aryenne. Cheers!
