We have plugins that do this but having this in core would be a lot better. Not to mention it would feel more secure, I mean I don't like using any plugins that deal with logging in period and that is a part of having roles.

Awesome idea Aaron !! You know what, I have been running behind the comparisons between Drupal and Wordpress and found that Drupal has robust and better control over permissions which take an edge when compared to the one on Wordpress.

If we could have a robust and a better hierarchy for Wordpress. I am sure that people would come to Wordpress for sites based on targeting.

Thanks

+1 for the idea of righta management of users. It should be emplemented via user roles and should be dynamic. Yes it would give wordpress a good boost as a cms but if only the wordpress core team takes it into consideration. There was a similar post where a core team member replied that wordpress is only a blog and therefore they will not consider this. I'd really like this feature being implemented as a core feature of wordpress. It would be a good help and make life a lot easy for many aroind the glob.

I would like to see a more robust permissioning system that allows for an admin to scope which content a user will see and be able to edit. Should be able to add as many roles as needed and permissions should be able to overlap. This would put WP on par with what other enterprise CMS platforms have been able to do for years.
