Theme doesn’t match the preview

……or at least the settings to make it like the preview are well hidden.

Hey @graftedin,
thank you for the feedback! Please let me know which settings you are having difficulties with and I will be glad to help.
Sincerely,
Andrii / Satori StudioI tried several themes the other night. You were the only one that thanked me for the feedback and asked how you can help. That is excellent support. Thanks. I changed your review for that.
I think you just need to have the default installation of your theme look exactly like the preview screen shot you have in the theme listings. When I didn’t see that I didn’t want to take the time to get those settings the same way.
Hey @graftedin,
thank you, appreciated!
I did contemplate making the default theme state (i.e. appearance right after the installation) look exactly like the front page of the demo, but so far have dropped the idea, due to the following considerations:
– while many users are downloading Bento to have the exact same layout as the front page of the demo, experience indicates that a large proportion of the users are setting up very different kinds of frontpages, e.g. WooCommerce shops, grids, blogs, etc.
– so if I did make the default install look like the demo front page, a large fraction of the users would have to go and unset many pre-defined things before they could set up their website like they wanted to. I’m aware that there are certain themes which do come with a pre-defined default which closely resembles the demo (e.g. Zerif), those are mostly narrow-niche themes which aren’t meant to be universal, in contrast to Bento.
What does seem like a decent compromise is to improve on the existing WP native content import tools so that one could not only import demo content for Bento (which is already possible) but also easily set up entire pages or even websites. This needs further research, however, since wordpress.org imposes significant limitations as to what can be included into the officially hosted themes.
In any case, if you do decide to stick with Bento, I’ll be glad to help you set up the front page or any other part of the theme the way you need it.
Best,
Andrii / Satori StudioRight but from my perspective I have marching orders to do a site with a certain layout and so I look for themes that are close to that layout and calculate how long it will take to achieve that layout. If your theme doesn’t look like your example that means I have to take extra steps to get that layout. Its a bait and switch.
I’d say make your theme sample look like your default installation.
Hey @graftedin,
thank you for the opinion, duly noted. We will seriously consider this for the next version update of the theme.
Best,
Andrii / Satori StudioOr…..just do 2 themes. Theme 1 with cover. Theme 2 with out cover.
Any advice on how to make the template look as it looks in the preview?
Sorry….I ended up using a different theme.
@graftedin, thank you for letting me know!
@ekopiv, could you please let me know which items you’re having issues with (preferably, in a separate forum thread), and I’ll be glad to help out!
Sincerely,
Andrii / Satori Studio
