WordPress' built in emails (comments, registrations, etc) are not the same as subscriptions.

The ideas forum is for ideas for WordPress core, not for plugins. A subscription list is plugin territory, as would be customizing it.

Now making the default WP emails customizable WOULD be a good core suggestion :) Currently you can do it via a plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-better-emails/

And this is the reason why this was placed into the idea forums. WordPress should consider better customization of their emails just like how they've added so many of the other features that weren't available before.

Jetpack sends email from wordpress.com serves, not your server. It's a 3rd party email setup.

Which is my point. Your host may have rules about what kind of mailing lists you can run, requiring double opt in, etc. Mailing lists are hard and complex. That's why they're 3rd party.

Check out MailChimp.

JetPack already allows subscribers, and automatically sends emails to our subscribers. Why can we not better format the look of those emails?

This would have to be a plugin, not core WP, as not all hosts would permit the newsletters.

We're tired of having plain emails sent to our subscribers. We want the ability to fully design or choose design templates for our email subscribers without having to install a third-party plug-in. Most plug-ins are not user friendly and still limits what we can control.

I propose
1. A user-friendly customizable theme for our emails.
2. While writing a post, we will have the ability to choose which picture(s) is shown in the emails sent to our subscribers. The templates should automatically fill in with our post settings into the customized theme.
3. Ability to add additional sections if desired.
4. Insert our own logos, headers, and colors.
5. Ability to do it all in WordPress! Not a third party (complicated) system.
