Why does the theme editor not show your blog-layout in a wysiwyg manner?
For example:
- First a drop down menu lets you choose the basic layout (two, three colums, etc.)
- Then your basic blog is being displayed. On top of each part of the layout (sidebar, header...) are fields to choose width, height, background-color, font-size, etc. Just press update and you can see the changes instantly.
- For further customization wordpress could add radio buttons next to each item in the sidebar (like categories, search function, blogroll, archive etc.), so you can easily add and remove things.
I think one can go pretty far with this basic editing! Once you're done you can still go into the style sheet or php files for further refinement.
The point is that only by adding a WYSIWYG function to the editor, WordPress truely becomes usable for anyone!! It can't be that hard to include some buttons on top of the blog layout that change the appearance of the blog. Pleeaasseee!
