My Theme Name is “Ten to Ten” but I’d like to name the theme directory “tentoten”. Is there anything I need to add to make this possible?
Can’t be done. You don’t get to choose the directory name, the directory name is automatically made based on the theme name. So “Ten To Ten” will have a directory name and text-domain of “ten-to-ten” in our systems, when the theme is submitted to the theme directory.
Default themes like the Twenty’s are special cases. They are the only ones that break this rule.
Thanks for this. Tbh, as it’s just a framework I’ve created for client’s sites and won’t ever be available on WordPress for download I think I’ll just keep as is.
That’s fair enough. Theme Check is designed to give feedback based on the idea of submitting a theme to the directory.
However, note that you may want to make your theme names personalized in such a case. If somebody ever did submit a theme with the same name, then the update checker could get confused.
For custom themes for clients, I recommend either using your firm’s name in the theme, or the client’s name. So instead of “Themename” you would name it “Themename by greencode” or “Themename for Client-X”. This would effectively prevent this because now it has a name in your namespace. We’re not going to have a matching name in our systems.
ur theme appears to be in the wrong directory for the theme name. The directory name must match the slug of the theme. This theme’s correct slug and text-domain is refresh.
