Hi there

“Shiny updates” was being developed as part of WordPress 4.2, but not everything made it into core. When this plugin is active you can do the following:

1. Go to Plugins -> Add new
2. In the “Featured” tab you’ll see some plugins like BuddyPress, bbPress, etc.
3. Click on “Install Now”
4. The button text changes to “Installing…” while the plugin is being installed automatically in the background (not activated!)

Without the plugin active you’ll see something like this when clicking on “Install Now”:

Shiny Updates makes sure you’ll never have to see that screen again (except when you have JavaScript turned off).

I’ll nudge the developers that they should add some screenshots 🙂
