    Hi,

I’ve imported a lot of galleries into Photo Gallery using PG import and all of the thumbnails are the old ones. Have tried to recreate thumbnails, have tried turning off WP Super Cache, then recreating thumbnails, but no luck.

If I go into every gallery, choose crop, and manually set a new thumbnail it’s fine, but this will take a long time to do. Is there a quick way to do this? I’m at a loss here.

Also would love to know if there’s a shortcut to replace all gallery thumbnails.

The album of galleries exists here:

Many thanks for any help you can offer.

    Chris

    Hi @christydigital!

I have checked your gallery, seems like the Natural Size of thumbnail images is smaller than the displayed size.

You can change the natural thumbnail size by changing values of Generated Thumbnail Dimensions option.

Generated Thumbnail Dimensions (Photo Gallery Options > Global Options > Thumbnail Options) defines the physical size of thumbnail images, while Frontend Thumbnail Dimensions (Photo Gallery Options > Shortcode Defaults > Thumbnail Options) is its display size. So it is important to keep frontend dimensions smaller than generated dimensions.

You need to Recreate thumbnails only after making these changes. Make sure to do all of the mentioned having the cache plugins turned off.

Let us know if this helps.
    Thank you!

    Hi,

I have just done the following:

Deactivated WP Super Cache & deleted the cache.
Set General Thumbnail Dimensions to 300×300.
Set Frontend Thumbnail Dimensions to 240×180.
      Hit Recreate

Unfortunately I still have the same issue.

    Hi @christydigital!

Our development team has checked the problem, here’s what it turned out to be. Initially, NextGen kept the original images, but it does not do that right now. When we request the original images, the response is empty. As a result, resetting or recreating thumbnails doesn’t work.

We have resolved this on your website, when you import now and recreate thumbnails with larger dimensions, you won’t face the problem. Could you please give this a try? We will release an update which includes the fix.

Recreating the thumbnails is required right now, since the thumbnail dimensions NextGen exports is 75×75 pixels. We will figure out an alternative for this as well.

    Thanks! Have a great day!
