Help safeguard the future of Scotland’s canals!
Volunteers play a vital role in the restoration and renaissance of Scotland’s canals, and our joint campaign with Scottish Waterways Trust and The Lowland Canals Volunteer Group, ‘Canal Volunteers‘ has recently been launched to encourage people to get involved in managing and looking after their canals in a sustainable and productive way which helps everyone.
If you have some spare time and would like to make friends, learn new skills and help ensure the nation’s biggest linear park continues to welcome millions of cyclists, walkers, boaters, kayakers and anglers each year, then why not become a Canal Volunteer!
Our volunteers come from all walks of life and contribute by working out on the canal banks, in our offices and at our visitor attractions. They give their time, expertise and commitment to the Scottish canals, all with a common goal – to maintain and improve the canals to the benefit of all.
Many projects will involve developing your skills or learning something new, and are a great opportunity for personal development.
