Review of Environmental Governance
In 2007, the Scottish Government commissioned Professor Neil Kay to conduct a review of environmental governance in Scotland. The review provides strategic advice on the overall approach to environmental governance in Scotland as part of the Scottish Government's drive to simplify the delivery of public services. In his report Professor Kay makes a number of recommendations for the future of environmental governance. These recommendations have been used to inform proposals for new reforms, including the recommendation to merge the Deer Commission for Scotland with Scottish Natural Heritage.
