Our newly launched Start2Scale service will work with ambitious Scottish companies, providing targeted support at each of the critical scale up phases.

This service has been developed to help create more mid-sized businesses in Scotland. Its ultimate aim is to increase the number of companies in Scotland who have the potential to scale to turnovers of £50 million to £100 million and more.

We’re looking for companies with key attributes, such as ambition, innovation and an international focus. Start2Scale will suit companies who are seeking significant levels of investment to quickly achieve their growth plans.

Get support at every stage of the scale up journey:

• High Growth start ups – companies less than five years old, with the potential and ambition to grow to £5 million in five years, or who require securing significant investment. The service will focus on getting your business market and investor ready.

• Scale ups – companies less than 10 years old, with the potential to grow sales quickly – typically by 20% per year to an excess of £10 million within the next 5-10 years. We'll help you to scale up sales and international markets, ensuring the right investment is in place.

• Scaling – a business already achieving a turnover of £10 million or higher, with the ambition and potential to grow to £50 million to £100 million and beyond, within three to five years. The focus of the service is on international growth and in achieving transformational growth.

Our Start2Scale service supports your business in the following ways:

• You'll work with a dedicated adviser and have direct access to support and expertise from specialists across Scottish Enterprise, working to develop and and implement a plan that accelerates growth.

• Support will focus on key challenges and themes, such as innovative business models, routes to international markets, investment strategies, leadership and talent development to help build company capability to manage future growth.

• You'll have access to world class executive education programmes and exposure to best practice through peer to peer learning and events, as well as facilitated special interest groups.

So we can effectively understand and support your business it’s essential that we work together in the following ways:

• Open engagement with you and your leadership team to understand your business, enabling us to provide the right support to deliver transformational projects. Our agreed action plan will prioritise the areas on which we will work together, and we'll jointly review progress on a regular basis.

• Participation from you, your leadership team in Executive Education programmes and peer to peer learning events.
