5 week holiday

My family and I are planning a holiday in September this year. We are traveling from Australia and plan to spend 5 weeks in your beautiful country for my birthday.
My grandfather was born and raised in Dunblane and I would like some ideas about finding self catering accommodation around this area. Using this as a base so we can take day trips around.
