Hi all! I am planning a 3 day trip mid-May (May 16-18) and I don't know where to go - I live in Scotland, but have only seen Edinburgh (where I currently reside) and Glasgow. I am wanting to go somewhere for the views, hikes, and walks, but when I searched the weather in Loch Ness and Isle of Skye for those days, I got slightly disappointed (I think there’s going to be on and off rains and more cold than I expected)
Can someone recommend another beautiful place to go mid-to-late May? It’s right before my birthday too so if I can see more of this beautiful country in beautiful weather it would be a sweet treat
Cairngorms maybe? I don’t know, I really don’t know Scottish geography that well - I’ve been here for less than a 9 months! Thank you all for the help and time, really do appreciate it!!
Edit: I am also open to going to other cities like Glasgow that are worth looking at if they have something to offer (such as modern/contemporary art museums, festivals/fairs in may, nice hikes like Edinburgh's arthurs seat, etc.)

Hope you have lots of fun :-)
You're spoiled for choice with options of where to go! Firstly, are you planning to drive, take a train, a bus or a ferry, or a combination of the above?
Let us know your means of transport and I'll come back with more suggestions!
I have to say I think a key part of exploring Scotland is seeing lochs and castles - happy to suggest some that are in easy distance of Edinburgh if this suits!

Would you consider visiting a Scottish island for a few days? Isle of Arran in Ayrshire is Scotland in miniature with fantastic hill walks, stunning views, castles, beaches, standing stones, whisky distillery and lots more!

You'll love it I'm sure. The weather is very mixed but that's Scotland for you
Have a lovely time wherever you choose.
