Where to go in Scotland in May?

Hi all! I am planning a 3 day trip mid-May (May 16-18) and I don't know where to go - I live in Scotland, but have only seen Edinburgh (where I currently reside) and Glasgow. I am wanting to go somewhere for the views, hikes, and walks, but when I searched the weather in Loch Ness and Isle of Skye for those days, I got slightly disappointed (I think there’s going to be on and off rains and more cold than I expected)

Can someone recommend another beautiful place to go mid-to-late May? It’s right before my birthday too so if I can see more of this beautiful country in beautiful weather it would be a sweet treat :) Cairngorms maybe? I don’t know, I really don’t know Scottish geography that well - I’ve been here for less than a 9 months! Thank you all for the help and time, really do appreciate it!!

Edit: I am also open to going to other cities like Glasgow that are worth looking at if they have something to offer (such as modern/contemporary art museums, festivals/fairs in may, nice hikes like Edinburgh's arthurs seat, etc.)
