Edinburgh 2017
The cumulative aphid vector pressure for 2017 (up to 27 August) now ranks 24th over the last 30 years. Although the vector pressure was high during the early season, the cereal aphid migration which normally dominates vector pressure during the summer is late and relatively low. Numbers are now returning to average but this is too late in the season to pose great risk to seed potato crops. The Peach-Potato aphid (Myzus persicae) accounts for 14% of the cumulative pressure, the Grain aphid (Sitobion avenae) for 15% and the Bird Cherry-Oat aphid (Rhopalosiphum padi) for 24%.

Dundee 2017
The cumulative aphid vector pressure for 2017 (up to 24 August) has now fallen to a rank of 30th over the last 30 years. The Carrot-Willow aphid Cavariella aegopodii is responsible for 19% of this value and the Peach-Potato aphid (Myzus persicae) for 30%.
