Supporting business in the Scottish Borders

We help local employers in the Scottish Borders make sure they have the right skills now and in the future by providing support and advice on skills, talent development and funding.

In the last 9 months our Employer Engagement team has provided:

• Skills advice to 76 companies
• Support for nine companies and five individuals to complete the Certificate of Work Readiness

In the last 12 months we also supported five companies and 106 individuals dealing with redundancy.

Supporting partners in the Scottish Borders

We work closely with schools across the Scottish Borders, supporting the My World of Work aspects of the School Partnership Agreements. Your local Partner Development and Integration Executive can help with:

• Delivery of the successful My World of Work School Ambassador programme
• Raising awareness and building capacity amongst teachers to use all the online resources available, including the recently developed Lesson Inserts
• Developing new Lesson Inserts. A simple way to link the curriculum with careers

We’ve also organised update and awareness sessions amongst other local partner organisations to embed My World of Work into their own services. This has included working with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) in Scottish Borders to ensure that My WoW is placed firmly at the heart of their organisation.
