Research interests/Areas of expertise
- Application of molecular biology methods to the detection and characterisation of organisms of agricultural/horticultural interest.
- Use of molecular methods in detection and quantification of GMO contamination of seed.
Biography
- Joined SASA in 1995, and worked on a variety of molecular biology projects. This included potato cyst nematode identification, potato virus detection and characterization, detection and quantification of fungal pathogens of wheat, GMO detection, plant pathogen genomics, etc.
- For the 10 years prior to 1995 I worked on bacterial genetics research projects at Newcastle, Edinburgh and Warwick Universities. This included five years studying the molecular genetic systems of the plant pathogen Pectobacterium atrosepticum.
