Your request will be acknowledged within five working days. We will respond to your request within 30 days.
You will receive a copy of the information we hold about you, or if the information cannot be provided an explanation of why that is the case.
Your examination script is exempt from release as part of a subject access request. SQA markers are instructed not to add their comments to examination scripts, but occasionally this does happen. You are entitled to receive a copy of any marks or comments markers add to your script. We will provide these, if available, in response to your subject access request.
Not without your consent. You can ask someone to act on your behalf when making a subject access request. This could be someone like a parent, solicitor, doctor, carer or other family member; they are referred to as a third party.
If you choose to have someone act on your behalf SQA must be satisfied that the person making the request is entitled to do so. They are responsible for providing written evidence that you have consented. SQA’s subject access request form (1.15 MB) can be used for this.
You can only request information on behalf of someone else if you have their written consent (see Can someone else request my personal information? above). However if they are unable to provide their consent, as a result of a disability, you can make a request on their behalf if you are a parent or other person who is legally able to act for them.
To make this type of request:
Complete the Candidate Representative Access Form (1.13 MB) and return by post or e-mail to address given above.
The information we provide in response to subject access requests includes information about exam results, however this in not the only way to access this information. You might prefer to use one of SQA’s other services to access the information we hold about your results:
SQA provides a service to return non-examination material submitted to us for assessment.
