The Bothy Thread

Bothies are unique to the UK. You can find them in Wales, and in the North of England (my homeland) - but Scotland has by far the bulk of Britain's bothies. So, for the uninitiated: what is a bothy?
Well, simply put, it's a basic sort of shelter - a bit like a cottage or a shed - that can withstand the winds that tear through the Grampians and careen across Scotland's moorland. When the going gets tough, the tough find a bothy - and, not only do they provide shelter, but you can also stay there overnight.
You should find bothies unlocked and ready for service, awaiting your sleeping bag. There could be a fireplace there, but fuel could be limited - peat or driftwood may be your only choice. Some don't even have a fire - so bring a camping stove for your tin of beans. But they are also truly wonderful places to stay, and are almost entirely unique to Scotland.
I'm aware that a lot of people will already know that, so, here's an idea: why not share your experiences of bothy living, with pictures therein? Thank you
