Camping in Scotland

Does anyone have any recommendations for nice places to camp?

I say camping but maybe a sort of half way house arrangement? with some home comforts for my other half... hah.

I don;t really have any camping equipment either. Is there such a place where you could rent equipment or stay in semi permanent accommodation?

    I don't know of anywhere that rents camping equipment but if you're looking for a camping experience but without too much hardship then the Wigwam thread is the place to look at. 

    If you were really adventurous and had good navigation skills and walking gear then bothying could be an option. Some bothies are reasonably close to civilisation, Camusanary bothy on Skye being a good case in point. It's not too remote but far enough away that it feels like you're getting away from it all. You'd still need a sleeping bag at the very least though, and you'd need to take in your own food. Others are very remote and need real care to get to.   http://www.mountainbothies.org.uk/

    The Youth Hostel in Glen Affric might be another option for you too? Ultimately I think you'll get the best of both worlds in the suggestions listed in the thread about wigwams.
