Music Sessions In Scotland
Any one got any recommendations for good traditional music pub sessions in Scotland, where folk are welcome to join in as well as listen. To get things started there are a few here in Orkney that I would recommend, The Reel in Kirkwall has a session Sat nights from 8pm onwards and the The Pomona in Finstown has a session on the last Friday of each month from about 9pm onwards.

Also, Fife's own King Creosote is playing throughout Scotland. He will give you beautiful Scottish-Folk experience in some fantastic locations including the stunning Birnam Arts Centre in Perthshire (I know - not a pub). http://www.kingcreosote.com/live-shows/
You might have heard of Birham as William Shakespeare mentioned Birnam Wood in Macbeth!
The Beatrix Potter Exhibition and Garden is also here as Beatrix often visited Birnam with her family.
Of course, if you're not a singer or don't have your instrument at hand, it's just as great to just sit and soak up the atmosphere and listen to the music!!
Local musicians, including the very well known Scottish fiddler Paul Anderson perform, however you are welcome to bring your own instrument and join in!
