The Braemar Royal Highland Gathering are pleased to confirm that Hublot Watches will again act as official time keepers and sponsors for the Track Events at the 2017 Braemar Gathering.

The Gathering is proud to organise the oldest recorded continuously held foot races in the world.  The hill race which is one of the highlights of the day was first recorded as being run at gatherings held by King Malcolm Canmore (1031 - 1093) to select the fittest and fleetest clansmen to act as his messengers. The record for the current race has been held since 1984 by M Hawkins in 24 minutes 28 seconds.  A real test of agility, stamina and speed, athletes come from all over the world to try themselves against the course. As one of our longest standing records it would be great to see our official time keepers Hublot Watches display a new record at the 2017 Gathering. Online entries for this year will go live at midnight on the 31 July.

Entry for the 9 and Under 12 Open Highland Dance category is now closed.  The field is now full and the organisers are delighted with the positive response to the opening of this new category.

Great news for the piping competition on games day:

The open pibroch is now full and the next 5 applications for the Senior Open Piping competition will be provided with places in the Light Music section and held as the reserves in order of entry for the Pibroch should there be any withdrawals.​

If a competitor wishes to be considered as a reserve for the pibroch they should submit details of the 8 required tunes as well.

Online registration for Open Highland Dancing – NOW OPEN

Competitors interested in registering for this years Open Highland Dancing Competitions at the Gathering can do so now by completing an online registration form.

Currently the Open Competitions are restricted to the age ranges -

12 and under 16

and

Over 16

The organisers of the Braemar Gathering are aware that there is some interest from Premier dancers at the younger age range between 9 and under 12. To gauge the potential for including this age range in the 2017 programme the organisers would ask that any interested competitors contact the Society Secretary secretary@braemargathering.org prior to 31 March 2017 to allow him to identify if a competition is viable.

A very happy new year to you all, preparations are well underway for the 2017 Gathering and we are pleased with the positive feedback we have received for the new website.

Along with the new year, we have launched a new online ticket store which allows you to purchase your Gathering tickets via the website. You can use PayPal or credit card (to use your credit card, just checkout as a 'guest' using the PayPal option) and your ticket order will be dispatched as soon as possible by our bookings secretary. Please be patient with us whilst we take on this new facility and let us know if you spot any issues.

This is the new online home of the Braemar Gathering. What you see here is not the finished article, it is just the beginning and we will be rolling out updates and new features over the coming weeks and months. 

A couple of the new features in the pipeline are online ticket purchasing, and online event registration.
