Statistician Group
A classification assigns items into categories according to shared characterisitics and it provides a framework for the description and comparison of statistics.
The Scottish Government uses many statistical classifications to classify businesses and people.
Statisticians within the Scottish Government are currently working to develop a set of classifications and guidance notes to assist all public bodies in Scotland in the collection, analysis and dissemination of data relating to the six equalities strands: Age, Gender, Disability, Sexual Orientation, Ethnicity, and Religion/Belief:
