Just the ticket
Scotland tickets to be given to community football groups and youngsters.
Thousands of youngsters across Scotland will sample Euro 2016 qualification action thanks to a ticket giveaway for next year’s match with Gibraltar, the First Minister has announced.
The Scottish Government and the Scottish Football Association have entered into a partnership to give 10,000 tickets to community and grassroots football groups in a bid to inspire the next generation of Hampden stars.
The tickets will be distributed by the Scottish FA to groups across the country for the home fixture on the 29th of March next year.
First Minister Alex Salmond said:
“Football is our national sport and it is a dream of many of our young people to play for the Scotland team, and to watch the side in action brings them closer to their heroes.
“The work that goes on at the grassroots level in Scotland cannot be overlooked. Community coaches and football groups are the ones who give up their spare time to provide our youngsters with an introduction to the game, which hopefully fuels their desire to keep involved.
“This ticket giveaway is not only a thank you to them, but also a way of inspiring those youngsters with a love of football to follow their passion and hopefully pull on that famous strip one day.
“I’m grateful to the Scottish FA for entering into this partnership and I hope that those fans who receive these tickets will continue to cheer on Scotland for years to come.”
