Tunisia update
First Minister chairs Scottish Government resilience meeting.
A further meeting of the Scottish Government resilience (SGORR) took place today to discuss the ongoing response and support following the terrorist attack in Sousse, Tunisia.
SGORR was chaired by the First Minister with contributions from the Deputy First Minister John Swinney, Lord Advocate and senior Police Scotland and Crown Office representatives to discuss the ongoing support for Scots affected.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said:
“The focus of our meeting today was to ensure Scottish Government, Police Scotland and our partners are doing everything possible to provide support to those affected and their families.
“The Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Scottish Government and all agencies involved are working hard to quickly identify victims, keep families informed and help people travel back as quickly and safely as possible.
“Whilst formal identification is continuing we must respect the wishes of the families involved and respect their privacy. The families of those involved must be at the heart of all that we do and say and we will be guided by their wishes.
“My thoughts continue to be with all those affected by this atrocity.
“Anyone with any concerns about the welfare of their friends and families should contact the official helpline on 0207 008 0000.”
