Anti-Social Behaviour and the Scottish Household Survey

A number of Anti-Social Behaviour indicators used to assess the impact of the local authority anti-social strategies on anti-social behaviour can be based on data from the Scottish Household Survey.

The full guidance on the accountability framework and information on data sources of core indicators can be downloaded from here.

SHS Local Authority Data

For most local authority analysis, both 2003 and 2004 years of data are required to obtain enough cases for local authority analysis.

  • 2003/2004 data was released on 4th August 2005. The 2003/2004 results can be accessed from our annual publications page. Local Authority results are reported in many of the tables.

  • From October 2005, Local Authority users will be able to access each table in the annual report for their authority, plus more ASB cross tabulations that are not in the annual report.

In the interim, please Contact the SHS project team if you require someone to carry out the analysis for you. Otherwise you can access the data directly from the Data Archive (see our FAQ's).

There have been a number of changes to the anti-social behaviour questions during the course of 2005. The new questions are published in our 2005 questionnaire which is available on our publications page. This data will become available in August 2006. Due to sample size restrictions in August 2006 the following local authority groupings will be used in our reporting:

Edinburgh

Glasgow

Fife

North Lanarkshire

South Lanarkshire

Highlands and Islands

Grampian

Tayside

Central

Dunbartonshire

Renfrewshire and Inverclyde

Ayrshire

Lothians

Southern Scotland

Scotland

For most local authority analysis, both 2005 and 2006 years of data will be required to obtain enough cases for local authority analysis. This will not be available until August 2007.
