Escape the city at Easterhouse woods

Discover five woodlands spread across Greater Easterhouse and the Bishops Estate (the land here was once owned by the medieval Bishops of Glasgow). All the woods are different but in every one you can get away from it all without leaving the city. Enjoy walking, cycling, horse riding, wildlife spotting, or simply sit back and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Come and explore these green breathing-spaces, owned by Glasgow City Council and managed by Forestry Commission Scotland. We’ve been working together to upgrade the trails and plant new native woodland for people and wildlife.

Bishop Loch

Rare and beautiful swamp woodland, where bonsai pines grow slowly and dragonflies dart in the summer air.

Cardowan

The trails here are ideal for pushchairs, running and cycling. Look out for wildlife, city views and a scrap metal sculpture.

Lochend Burn

Enjoy an easy stroll along the tree-lined trail beside the burn or relax in the grassy meadow overlooking the city.

Todds Well

Family-friendly trails through new woods, open heath and wildflower meadows, with views to the Campsie Fells.

West Maryston

Wind through the open woods where lost mining villages once stood and spy distant Tinto Hill from the viewpoint.
