Mountain biking
Scotland is one of the best places on the planet for mountain biking. The network of exhilarating and challenging world-class trails in Scotland’s forests have made the country a big hit on the mountain biking world map.
You’ve come to the right place
Whether you’re a beginner wanting to develop your skills or an expert rider in search of thrills, then look no further. We’ve got a fantastic range of trails, stunning scenery and a warm welcome waiting just for you. Visit one of our purpose-built trail centres, spread across Scotland. You’re of course welcome to mountain bike in any of Scotland’s national forests, exploring further, beyond the trails.
Pick a trail that’s right for you
Routes at all our mountain bike trail centres are graded by colour. If you’re new to the sport, start with a gentle green or some blue-graded easy singletrack. Everyone loves blues – even the experts. Many of our trail centres have short skills loops too, where you can practise some of the features you’ll find on the trails.
In addition to having fun, staying safe on the trails should also be a top priority - our sections on your safety and riding skills should help keep you on the straight and narrow.
Looking for something a bit less energetic?
Cycling in the forest isn’t just for mountain bike adrenalin junkies. You can also explore by bike at a more leisurely pace along forest tracks and trails suitable for the whole family. Find some of our favourite places in the cycling section.
