Go for a wander at Victoria Falls

From the car park there are wonderful views over Loch Maree, and you can follow the short path to the viewing area to see the falls. They’re named after Queen Victoria, who visited in 1877.

The water tumbling down the falls comes from Beinn Eighe, the impressive bulk of mountain to the south of the loch. It’s a National Nature Reserve, and well worth exploring to see the ancient Caledonian Pinewood and mountain environment.

Explore and discover

Follow the short, wide, firm surfaced path along to discover veiled views of the waterfall from the viewing area. The route continues along a steeper path upstream, with more views of the falls and over Loch Maree, before looping back to the car park.

From Kinlochewe head north on the A832 for about 10 miles (16 km). The car park is signposted on your left, at grid reference NG 893 712.

At Slattadale you can picnic beside beautiful Loch Maree, and watch for white tailed eagles from the path to Poolewe. Further away, Lael Forest Garden displays over 200 species of trees and shrubs.
