Aros Park
Explore, rest and play in Aros Park
Aros Park is like a fabulous back garden for the town of Tobermory. Trails wander through attractive woodland, lush with ferns, and there's a waterfall to discover, plus a play trail for children to explore. You can cook a barbecue and even try your hand at trout fishing.
The park has superb views too, looking back to Tobermory and over the Sound of Mull to the craggy face of Ardnamurchan. On the edge of the site, there’s a spectacular look-out at Alainn View that will lift you high into the tree tops.
Our guide map to Mull’s forests will help you enjoy the landscape, culture, history and wildlife of this amazing island.
Notice
- Managed Rhododendron clearance work is taking place throughout Aros Park which will involve routine managed fires and smoke in places. Please help by following all safety signage and warning signs. Work will continue until late February.

A generous laird
The way Aros Park looks today owes much to Alexander Allan, son of a wealthy Liverpool shipping magnate, who inherited the estate when he was just 29 and spent the rest of his life improving it. He welcomed visitors to the beautiful landscaped grounds around grand Aros House, and built a library and meeting rooms in Tobermory.
Aros House was demolished in 1962 but you can still find traces of the Allans’ time here, such as a shed by the burn where a generator made electricity for the house. You’ll find more about the fascinating history of Aros Park on a website developed by Mull resident June Saul.
