Gaze upon the Hebrides

Quinish forest drapes the hillside above the wee village of Dervaig. A trail through the forest makes a great ride or walk, with views out to the Inner and Outer Hebrides on a clear day. Look down into the hidden glen of the Mingary Burn and you may well spot some of the red deer that wander the hills.

A network of tracks

There are loads of quiet roads and tracks in the area between Quinish, Glengorm, and Ardmore, which are ideal for cycling or long rambles. Follow our waymarked trails for an easy way to explore this beautiful corner of Mull, or plan your own route. The local Ordnance Survey Explorer map (sheet 374) will help you choose.

Wildlife watching

The Loch Tor hide offers the chance for some excellent wildlife viewing in Quinish forest. The unstaffed hide sits in an elevated position, and is ideal for spotting stags on the open hill, as well as the opportunity to learn more about Mull’s unique flora and fauna. Spot an array of waterfowl down on Loch Tor and possibly a larger bird of prey on the skyline!

Access is via a short walk on the forest road from the Quinish forest entrance, just off the main road. Please contact the District Office for all abilities vehicle access through the forest gate.

How to get here

From Tobermory, follow the B8073 to Dervaig. As you head into the village, look for Kilmore Terrace on the right, just before the Community Village Hall. The car park is about 200 yards (180 metres) along this road, at grid reference NM 432 522. There is parking for around four cars.
