Cheapest way to get around?
I'm flying to Scotland at the end of September and staying for just over 2 weeks (lone traveller). I'll be in Glasgow for a couple of nights, then Bute for a week, then back to Glasgow for 6 nights. I'll be getting around by bus and trains mostly, and I hope to include a trip to Loch Lomond. What's the cheapest way for me to do this? Can I get a sort of Travelcard that covers train and bus (and Waterbus?) or will I have to buy separate tickets each time?

The recommended ticket(s) for you would be the flexible Rail and Sail ticket from Glasgow Central to Rothesay on Bute (£20 return, one set of tickets covers the 2 trains and 2 CalMac ferries) and a day return ticket on the Glasgow Central - Balloch train OR a return Citylink bus ticket from Buchanan bus station to Luss and back. The other stops on Loch Lomond with public transport hubs are Tarbet and Ardlui but they may have fewer connections a day. I am also linking the Citylink explorer pass below which is great value if you want to add more daytrips from Glasgow on the 2nd half of your trip (£49 for 3 out of 5 days)
