What pub(s) would you recommend for three Yanks spending 3 days in Edinburgh at the end of August/early September? We will be staying near the Royal Botanic Gardens and relying on public transportation and our own feet for getting around, not driving. We want local flavor, not places that are tarted up for tourists. Thank you.

I went through the list in that thread and it holds up (things rarely change in the UK
P.S. this is the first time I am hearing the phrase "Tarted up", I've lived in FL for a while but this sounds like deep south :P Public transport in Edinburgh is really good, I have a guide below (unfortunately the botanical gardens aren't served by a ton of buses, a short walk would enable you to get more connections). Enjoy your holiday!
