I see your problem....it seems to be really difficult to find a car rental company that will offer this service. What were your plans as there may be other options?

The West Highland Line train service departs Edinburgh Waverley train station daily and is a 4 hour journey to Oban with one change at Glasgow Queen Street train station. The route this train takes is one of the most scenic rail journeys in Scotland, passing by the River Clyde, Loch Lomond and Kilchurn castle at Loch Awe and continuing on to Oban. Here is a link to the timetables and further information on this service: West Highland Line.
Another option could be to join a tour? There are many tour companies that depart from Edinburgh each day that include Oban as part of the itinerary. The benefits of joining a tour is that you will receive information along the way by a knowledgeable guide, and with many stops at popular attractions and view points allowing you to experience the best of this amazing part of Scotland.

Sounds like a a tour may be the way to go since I plan on taking off on a ferry from Oban. I had a few places on my wish list after leaving Edinburgh on the way. I'm sure a tour would be able to hit up some of them.... it's just myself traveling so I'm willing to be flexible. I do have a list of the places I was hoping to see using a rental car on my to, and around Oban. Please feel free to send me more information @YourScotlandTour ! Thanks for the advice!
