Best place for a long weekend out of Edinburgh in September?
Hi everyone,
It's that time of year where the holiday wanderlust has well and truly kicked in so I've hit planning mode and I'm looking for your top tips for a September holiday. My husband and I live in Edinburgh and want to get away for around 4 nights, and this is our hit list:
- Easy bus or train route from Edinburgh (4 hours or less)
- Location that will have enough local amenities that we can eat out for some of our meals
- Somewhere that fulfills both our interests - nature (me) and history (my husband)
- Bonus points if there's a brewery or gin/whisky distillery we can visit as well
Where should we go? Your suggestions are very much welcomed!

I have a big list of public transport accessible places towards the bottom of our blog's Rural Scotland page (including personal favourites like Stonehaven, Perthshire, etc). And there is Glencoe of course but very infrequent transport options.
