We will be driving around Scotland in early September. Other that booking our first and last night's accommodation, is it necessary to prebook any other accommodation or can we just "wing it"? We plan on being in Aberdeen, Inverness, Skye and Oban. Are there local tourist offices in each city/region that can help you with accommodations? Thanks

There are VisitScotlaland iCentres in Inverness, Oban, Aberdeen and Skye; our friendly advisors will be able to book onward accommodation for you and provide you with lots of information about these areas.
I use booking.com and Visit Scotland as well as Trivago to compare prices. Aberdeen usually has lots of good deals as does Oban. I can thoroughly recommend the Ardoe House Hotel. It's in a rural setting on the outskirts of Aberdeen but it's beautiful and worth checking out.
