Glasgow to Edinburgh to zedinburgh Airport
Brief trip to Scotland. One day have planned to travel from Glasgow to Rosslyn Chapel - National Museum (will exclude if insufficient time), Edinburgh Castle, St Giles' Cathedral, Greyfriars Kirk and Scott's Monument. DEPART from Edinburgh airport at about 7.30-8.30 at night.
Travelling by hire car.
Is car parking available near all these places, or is it expensive, or should we park the car and travel by bus,..or...or..or?
I look forward to some helpful advice as I have had before.
Regards from Australia. Philip

As for your city centre enquiry, Edinburgh is a capital city. Parking is not cheap however, depending on your numbers it may be cheaper than using park and ride options. It just depends.
So how many of you are there, when are you travelling and what time do you expect to be going to the city centre?
There are also trams from the city centre to the airport - http://edinburghtrams.com
I hope this helps :-)

There will be two of us. One 60yo (me) and one 42yo.
travelling there on (probably ) Thursday 20 April.
Visit Rosslyn Chapel say 9.30-10.30, then head to city...by best means suggested :-)
Flight out of Edinburgh is about 7.30pm, so need to get there about (say) 5.30-6pm
A definite option is to discount Rosslyn and venture direct to Edinburgh for major features there..... then park and ride from somewhere enroute from Glasgow which is quick and convenient to get back to and get to airport.
Regards,
and I loved the G'day at the start of your reply :-)
Edinburgh can easily offer a full week without seeing anything twice. Rosslyn is worth the visit if you have interest in it. Personally I'd ditch it and spend 7 hours in the city. But I don't really care for churches much
The savings of parking on the edge of town and using transport in and out would not be massive over the cost of parking. However the headache of luggage and logistics and ... and ....
You're on holiday, worrying about saving £2.50 probably isn't worth the worry and hassle to save it.

I think I will go for the 7 hrs in the city also
From that decision, should we look for one central spot to park,..or would we move around in the car to view other places, with some walking obviously? and as u say..the hassle with luggage - it wouldn't be worth it.
cheers, and thanks again mate :-)
