How can I find out when and where folk sings and pub sings take place?

My husband and I will be visiting Scotland (mostly ranging from Skye to Aberdeen to Orkney and Shetland) from mid July into early August this year.  We'd be interested in attending folk sings or pub sings as we travel.  How can we find out about regularly scheduled sings?  Thanks!

    Hey @SueDRad I am not aware of a centralized calendar that exists for pub musical nights unfortunately. What I do is lookup Facebook pages for pubs / hotels that advertise periodic live music and figure it out from there. Or just go to a popular pub and ask the bartender, they are generally in the know. Hope you attend a good number of music events and that you enjoy your trip :smile:

    Hi @SueDRad,  there is a singers session held in the Reel in Kirkwall on Orkney usually on the second Friday of each month its a mixture of Blues Folk and Americana.

    Thank you both for your very helpful responses.  Sorry to say we won't be in Orkney until the end of July and will miss the sing at the Reel, but I'll try your approach, Horizons.

    Hi @SueDRad if your in Orkney towards the end of July then there would be some other options.  The Reel also hold a weekly session on Saturday nights from 8pm onwards however those sessions would tend to be a mixture of tunes and singing.  There is also a new session on Sundays at the St Ola Bar in Kirkwall but I have not managed to go to it yet.  In Stromness at the Royal Hotel once a month there is a Music night ( format like a folk club with people taking turns to perform and a mixture of styles, Blues, Folk, Traditional) however I don't know the date yet for July  but I will keep you posted.  When your in Orkney if you pop into one of the ICentres as they produce weekly and monthly Whats On Guides and have posters of events.
