Last week, I saw the classic play The Cheviot, The Stag and the Black, Black Oil performed at Edinburgh's Lyceum Theatre, and it really rekindled my interest is the tragic but fascinating history of the Highland Clearances.  The Highland Folk Museum in Newtonmore, which amazingly is free of charge to visit, has an excellent exhibition which includes the story of these events, and I know of both the Duke of Sutherland's statue on Ben Bhraggie near Golspie from which you can get amazing views, as well as Badbea, the former clearance village near Berriedale on the east coast of Caithness.  This autumn seems like a good time to get out and about and track down a bit more information on this fascinating subject, so I'd be grateful for any other recommendations for sites related to it.  I hope community members can help!
