Driving from Kilsyth to Pennan via Cairngorms Nat Park (A9)
Have I bitten off more than i can chew here?
We have a 2 1/2 week road trip through Scotland and after leaving our base near Kilsyth (our first stop in Scotland and base for exploring Glasgow and Edinburgh over 4 days) our first booked stop is at Pennan in the North but would like to travel through the Nat Park for the scenery and Distillerys (yum)...we are from Australia and used to driving long daily distances but with stops along the way maybe this is too much in one day? should we try to break it up? It would mean sacrificing one of our booked days in Kilsyth but could do.

If you were to do this as a straight journey, it would be around 4.5 hours from Kilsyth to Pennan. It would be possible in a day with a few stops along the way. Using Google Maps you can chart your journey to find the approximate driving times.
If you'd like to take your time a bit more, then a stop off at Braemar or Ballatar, great spots within the Cairngorms National Park and in the scenic area of Royal Deeside.
You might want to take a peek at our itinerary for Speyside distilleries and choose a couple to visit - a slight detour on the way to Pennan.

The choices are many, but part of the fun is in the planning
