Accomodations on the fly

Hello.  I'm planning a trip in September.  I'll have a car and want to wander a bit.  If I find somewhere I like will I be able to stop and find a B&B or Inn?  I'm hoping to avoid large chain hotels and a fixed itinerary.  Thanks!

Hi @Robmac, as long as don't care about the quality of the accommodation then this will not be a problem although it does depend where you are in Scotland. There are towns, like Pitlochry, with lots of B&Bs & Guest houses and there are also places with very few (where busy times will prove difficult to find something). If all else fails you may want to pack a tent
    Best regards

Hi @Robmac things start to calm down a bit in September so you should be able to find accommodation ok.  Scotland is packed full of wonderful b&bs, quaint inns and family run hotels.  I've found some amazing places to stay on my travels and can only think of one place that was awful (my own fault as it had some terrible reviews).  I'd also consider glamping as there's some brilliantly quirky accommodation out there from yurts, to converted train carriages, Helicopters and hobbit pods.  September is often mild so it should still be warm enough for a spot of luxury camping.
