Jew's harp
Object Detail
Known as a Jew's harp or jaw har, this was a medieval mouth harp. Its flexible metal tongue could be twanged over the mouth to resonate and change the pitch of the sound. Found during archaeological excavations at Edinburgh Castle, 1989-1991.
