A new forest is growing on the gently rolling countryside around West Forth, criss-crossed with paths and tracks that are great for walking, cycling or horse riding. There are wide views towards the Southern Uplands and the Border hills, and wildflowers at your feet. The waymarked trails will get you started.
A short stroll around a wildflower meadow and charming larch copses on the edge of the village.

The wildflower meadow on this trail has been planted on land once grazed by sheep. The flowers are pretty in spring and summer, and a good food source for butterflies. Rab’s Path is on the east side of the A706, at the south end of the village. It starts from just opposite the bus stop at the end of Cloglands, at grid reference NS 938 533.
A wee daunder along the Abbey Burn and through young woodland on the edge of Forth village.
Uneven grassy surface. Some short fairly steep slopes. Includes a wide kissing gate and some areas that may be wet.

Admire the view and look for the distinctive shape of Tinto Hill, standing proud of the ridge of Border hills. The trail starts from the corner of Hie Dyke and Lea Rig, at grid reference NS 933 536.

Forth village is on the A706 between Lanark and Whitburn. Starting points for the various trails are in the trail descriptions. There’s plenty of space to park in the village, but please leave space for residents’ cars.
