WiFi Contract Information

1. Who is the contracted supplier for the Wi-Fi contract.
2. What is the contract type.
3. What does the Wi-Fi offer to the end users.
4. The brand names of the Wi-Fi equipment, including access points and routers.
5. If the organisation does not have a Wi-Fi Contract in place what are the organisation plans to have a contract in place.
6. If this service is provided in-house: Number of users; Number of Locations/Sites; End User Offer; Manufacturer Name/Brand

Response

1. NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) do not have a contracted supplier for Wi-Fi, as the service is provided in-house.
2. Wi-Fi access is provided managed and maintained as part of the portfolio of services provided to staff and visitors by NSS's IT function, and is not a contracted service.
3. No additional charges apply.
4. All equipment used in the provision of the Wi-Fi service is manufactured by Cisco.  NSS uses Aironet Wireless Access Points.
5. Wi-Fi access is provided, managed and maintained as part of the portfolio of services provided to staff and visitors by NSS's IT function, and is not a contracted service.  There are currently no plans to change this provision model.
6. The service is provided in house: Number of users - approximately 3,500; Number of Locations/Site - 20; Access is provided separately for both corporate and non-corporate devices, the latter via a separate "guest" wi-fi network; Manufacturer Name/Brand - Cisco Aironet
