A targeted programme of activity is underway to improve outcomes for these children. Much of this work is being co-ordinated by the CAPSM Steering Group. The Group currently includes representation from Scottish Government Child Protection, Alcohol, Drugs, Looked After Children, Getting it right for every child (GIRFEC), Early Years, Young Carers, and Sexual Health policy officials.
It also includes representation from the Council of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA) and two voluntary sector organisations involved in this area - the Lloyds TSB Partnership Drugs Initiative (PDI) and Aberlour Child Care Trust.
