Driving Advice
The kind of driving experience that users on the Scottish Motorway and Trunk road network will have depends
on a variety of factors. For example, having good quality information "pre-trip" and "on-trip" allows motorists
to make informed journeys supported by Variable Message Signs
and other information platforms. This helps the
motorist to adapt to the prevailing road conditions whether that relates to incidents on the network or prevailing
weather conditions.
However, we also think it is important that individual motorists are aware of what is expected
of them whilst they are on the network and what the appropriate response from them should be. So, this section of
the website will focus on providing additional support to motorists.
Advice will cover existing guidance:
- on driving in bad weather,
- what to do in the event of a breakdown and what support is available; and
- on seasonal and other campaigns e.g. taking care to avoid deer collisions.
